North of the Border is a modern day Romeo-and-Juliet tale of intrigue, with international terrorists, sinister drug gangs, and dedicated law enforcement heroes.

But at its heart, the book is a familiar story of family, friendships, and feelings that can surround and confound, and ultimately save the day.

NOTE TO READERS:

A few years ago, seven of us writers – who call ourselves L. S. McFan, which is an anagram of our initials – decided to write a book together as a “fun” project. We drew lots to see who would write the first chapter, and then who would follow, writing one chapter at a time, one month at a time, one after the other. I think when we began we didn’t see beyond seven chapters.

However, each of the seven writers had a different plot in mind. Some people tried to write the heroine as wimpy and clingy, others wrote her as strong and single-minded. Some wanted a romantic hero; others wanted the leading man to waste no time on lovemaking but to get on with saving the world from disaster.

Eventually, these differing points of view coalesced into one – a journey for the hero and heroine as they struggle in their quest, complicated somewhat by the fact that the two don’t speak the same language. And yes, they also want to save the world from disaster.

Fifty chapters later – and a little more than four years – the authors decided it was time to finish the journey. The seven writers now have a single objective: they want readers to enjoy this journey that started as a seven-month “fun” project and evolved into a romantic suspense novel.
